Roadmap

This roadmap describes the active product direction for people using Dainvo.

Current Product Shape​

Dainvo is a local-first desktop calendar workspace with:

  • Dainvo Calendar with event creation, editing, and deletion
  • Google, Outlook, Apple Calendar, and generic CalDAV calendar sync
  • recurring-event expansion with series editing and single-occurrence changes where the calendar provider supports them
  • an Inbox for calendar invitations and overdue tasks
  • provider-aware event availability, privacy, color, importance, category, and right-click action controls
  • ICS import/export
  • Dainvo, Todoist, Microsoft To Do, Google Tasks, TickTick, and Obsidian parent tasks
  • task blocks as calendar work sessions
  • task multi-slot planning for multiple scheduled blocks on one parent task
  • shared or per-account default calendars for task scheduling
  • task attachments with Dainvo task sync
  • buckets with ordered task, file, and folder contents
  • Dainvo Notes daily-note files stored on the user's computer
  • Obsidian Daily Notes with Live Preview and safe vault embeds
  • calendar weather forecasts for day, week, and agenda/list context
  • multi-timezone calendar display, quick time-zone switching, and hover quick views
  • settings for calendar, tasks, appearance, accounts, reminders, shortcuts, and sync
  • Outlook Email flagged message capture
  • Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, and Webex online meeting support
  • authenticated OpenAI, Codex, and Claude MCP connections backed by the active signed-in desktop, with each connection disabled by default
  • Dainvo AI chat and natural-language help for planning, tasks, and calendar actions, including local AI on supported devices
  • managed-account and team controls for organizations
  • desktop reminders and private provider connections

Projects are not exposed in the active app. Buckets are the current way to group work into scheduled blocks. Broader Projects may return later, but they should not be described as available today.

Near-Term Focus​

  • Keep calendar loading fast for events, tasks, and buckets.
  • Keep sync, reconnect, and pending-change behavior clear across providers.
  • Keep settings easier to understand as more integrations and feature toggles are added.
  • Keep release notes focused on what changes for users.

Feature Direction​

  • Calendar: preserve the toolbar, sidebars, event and task compact popups, bucket details panel, context menus, and editors that make the planning workspace predictable.
  • Tasks: keep parent tasks separate from task blocks; task blocks remain local scheduling records.
  • Notes: keep Dainvo Notes local to the user's chosen folder and separate from Obsidian Daily Notes.
  • Task services: keep outside lists and projects available for filtering and task creation. Todoist project mirroring into Dainvo Projects is future-only.
  • Buckets: keep buckets independent from Projects and render them as calendar work blocks.
  • Settings: keep account, calendar, task, appearance, reminders, shortcuts, and integration controls grouped in predictable sections.
  • Documents and Projects: keep as future planning unless explicitly scoped.

Release Direction​

  • Keep Windows, macOS, and Linux downloads current.
  • Keep store-specific builds aligned with the direct desktop release where possible.
  • Keep provider permissions and account removal behavior easy to understand.
  • Keep public release notes focused on user workflows.
