Getting started with Dainvo
Dainvo is a desktop planning app for calendars, tasks, meetings, notes, and focused work blocks. It is currently in beta, so some workflows may change as the app improves.
What Dainvo is for
Use Dainvo when you want one place to see appointments, scheduled work, Dainvo Tasks, synced tasks, and larger planning blocks.
- Events are meetings, appointments, calls, and normal calendar commitments.
- Tasks are work items that can be completed.
- Task blocks are scheduled time for one task.
- Buckets are time blocks that can hold several tasks.
- The Inbox brings together calendar invitations and overdue tasks that need attention.
- Dainvo Daily Notes are local Markdown notes attached to calendar days.
- Integrations connect outside calendars, task systems, Outlook email flags, Obsidian vaults, and meeting providers.
A bucket is useful when you want to reserve time for a group of work without placing every task separately on the calendar.
Main areas
The calendar is the main workspace. Use it to view your day, week, month, agenda/list, or year, create new items, drag work into time slots, and open details.
If Dainvo Daily Notes are enabled, supported calendar views can show a Dainvo Notes button on each day so you can open that day's local Markdown note from the calendar.
The sidebars help you move quickly:
- The left side can show calendars and task lists.
- Events and task blocks open in compact popups for quick review and actions.
- The right details panel is for bucket contents and, from the Email area, flagged-message details.
- Settings controls account connections, defaults, reminders, appearance, shortcuts, and sync behavior.
A basic planning flow
- Connect the calendars, task accounts, Outlook Email, Obsidian vaults, and meeting providers you use.
- Set default event and task calendars in Settings.
- Click or drag on the calendar to create an event, bucket, or task.
- Use buckets for grouped work sessions.
- Drag tasks into buckets or onto the calendar when you want to schedule them.
- Open Inbox to respond to invitations and review overdue tasks.
- Add other time zones in Settings if you plan across regions.
- Enable weather in Settings > Calendar if you want conditions beside schedule context.
- Enable Dainvo Daily Notes in Settings > Calendar if you want notes beside each day.
- Use compact popups for events and tasks, and the right details panel for bucket contents.
- Use Sync now or Reconnect in Settings > Integrations if a provider needs attention.
Current beta note
Projects are disabled for now. Buckets remain available and do not require projects. Dainvo Notes are available as local Markdown daily notes; broader document storage is planned for a later version.
