Inbox invitations and overdue tasks

Dainvo's Inbox collects calendar invitations and overdue tasks that need attention. It does not replace a provider's email inbox or task app.

Open Inbox

Choose Inbox from the left app rail. The badge shows how many pending items are available. Use Refresh Inbox when you want to check again; Dainvo also refreshes connected accounts when you open Inbox.

Respond to a calendar invitation

An upcoming invitation appears when Dainvo can identify you as an attendee, you are not the organizer, and the event still needs your response.

From an invitation row you can:

  • Accept, mark Tentative, or Decline when the calendar supports responses.
  • Open Info to review the event in a compact popup.
  • Select the row to focus the event on the calendar.
  • Use Suggest a new time for an eligible Outlook invitation from the compact popup.

Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Apple Calendar through iCloud, and compatible CalDAV accounts support invitation responses in Dainvo. Other calendars may show invitation information without response buttons.

After you respond, the invitation leaves Inbox. You can change a supported response later from the event's compact popup. Responses to recurring invitations apply to the series. Dainvo asks for confirmation before changing an accepted or tentative invitation to Declined, and Outlook may remove the declined event from your calendar.

If the calendar is hidden, Dainvo keeps it hidden and shows a message instead of revealing the event automatically. Show the calendar from Calendar if you want Inbox selection to focus it. Settings > Calendar can also dim other calendar items while an invitation is focused.

Work with overdue tasks

An open task can appear in Inbox when its due date or deadline is before today in your current calendar time zone. Dainvo follows your task-provider visibility settings and the setting that hides blank Obsidian tasks.

From an overdue task row you can:

  • Open the task editor.
  • Complete the task.
  • Use its normal task context menu.
  • Drag it onto the calendar to reschedule the overdue due date or deadline.
  • Dismiss the current overdue entry from Inbox.

Dismissing an entry does not complete or delete the task. It hides that task for its current overdue date or deadline. If you later change the due date or deadline and the task becomes overdue again, it can return to Inbox.

Show or hide overdue tasks

Open Settings > Tasks and change Show overdue tasks in Inbox. Turning it off removes overdue-task rows and their badge count without changing the tasks, reminders, scheduled blocks, or provider sync.

Troubleshooting

  • Invitation missing: use Sync now for the calendar account, then refresh Inbox. Confirm the event is upcoming and still needs your response.
  • Response unavailable: the calendar may not support responses in Dainvo, or the event may not identify your connected account as an attendee.
  • Event not focused: show its calendar in Calendar, then select the invitation again.
  • Overdue task missing: confirm it is open, its due date or deadline is before today, its task provider is visible, and Show overdue tasks in Inbox is enabled.
  • Dismissed task returned: a changed due date or deadline creates a new overdue state and can make the task eligible again.
